I just read in the Harvard course EDX was a lesson that this matter, specifically the period comprising the Babylonian captivity of the Jews in 587 BC until the last Jewish revolt after the destruction of Jerusalem in the year 135 AD
This period of Jewish history coincided with the writing of many books of the Old Testament and the New Testament. The history of foreign domination which the Hebrews suffered was written with blood. Babylonians, Persians, Macedonian-Greek, Roman empires were submitted to the nation of Israel, but it was not easy for the major world empires to maintain order and peace in the holy land, the children of Abraham are indomitable.
Today Jews suffer outrage from neighboring Arab nations, but after the Israelis humiliated the Arabs in all the wars fought since 1948 to today, Arabs are yelling and threatening, but are not putting their feet to dominate Israel.
I understand that people who do not know God's plan become so stupefied war on said "holy land".
Specifically in Jerusalem is waging a cosmic war, political and religious forces, divine and demonic forces make Jerusalem an arena of confrontation that can not be easily understood,
Heroes, villains, traitors, greedy, powerful, miserable, Saviour, Destroyer, countless agents marched in the Holy Land.
The land of Israel is so important to mankind that Jesus refused to leave the confines of Israel. In Israel decides the fate of mankind.
